Penn State Hosts Regional Poultry Health and Management Conference
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State's Department Of Poultry Science Will Host The North Atlantic Poultry Health & Management Conference, May 11-12 At The Holiday Inn Harrisburg/hershey In Grantville, Pa. The Conference Is Designed For Educators, Producers, Veterinarians, Technical Representatives And Allied Industry Representatives Involved In The Egg Layer, Turkey And Broiler Industries.
Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Dennis Wolff will offer the welcome address for the conference, which will combine presentations on air quality, avian influenza and more with concurrent sessions that focus on broiler chickens, eggs and turkeys.
Hilko Ellen of Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands will discuss the European approach to air quality. An avian influenza panel will present procedures for certifying AI vaccine for use, experiences using AI vaccination, monitoring vaccinated flocks and implications of Southeast Asian AI outbreaks.
Concurrent sessions will cover poultry farm sanitation programs, electrical issues, drinking water sanitation and rodent control. General health issues will be presented and specific discussions will target coccidiosis prevention, salmonella incidence, cellulitis and cornona virus. Speakers from several universities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, genetic companies and pharmaceutical companies will address critical issues for the poultry industry.
