Wednesday April 05, 2006

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State's Mushroom Review Program, focusing on energy and substrate management, will be offered April 21 at the Ramada Inn in State College. Sponsored by the College of Agricultural Sciences, the program is designed for mushroom growers, with sessions covering consumption, pest and disease management and composting challenges related to odors.

Faculty members from Penn State and the University of Delaware will present lectures, exercises and demonstrations. Recent research conducted at Penn State and at commercial mushroom farms will be discussed. In addition, hands-on activities may be used to reinforce the concepts covered in the program.

The fee is $145, which covers materials, break and lunch. Walk-ins will be accepted on the day of the program if space allows. To receive a special lodging rate, contact the Ramada Inn at 814-238-3001 and identify yourself as a Mushroom Review Program registrant. For registration information, contact the Office of Conferences and Short Courses by phone at 814-865-8301 or by e-mail at shortcourses@psu.edu, or visit the Web site.
