World-Class Horse Trainer To Teach Winning Ways Clinic
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Andy Moorman of Florida will be the featured horse trainer in the Winning Ways Clinic, March 17-18 at Penn State's Snider Ag Arena.
"Andy Moorman has trained horses and riders to multiple American Quarter Horse Association World and Congress championships in several disciplines," says Pat Comerford, Penn State extension horse specialist and coordinator for the Winning Ways Clinic. "She is noted as a straightforward teacher and trainer who emphasizes the basic skills to improve riders and their horses for both Western and English events."
The event, co-sponsored by Penn State's Department of Dairy and Animal Science and the Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association, also will include a used tack and clothing sale. Hundreds of quality items, from saddles and blankets to hats and boots, will be available. Consignments for the used tack and clothing sale are welcome. In addition, Penn State's horse farm will be open for visitors to see the quarter horse herd and sale horses. According to Comerford, Saturday's program will feature exercises and techniques to improve showmanship, horsemanship, trail and equitation skills. Sunday's program will include instruction for more advanced maneuvers, including lead changes and proper form for western riding and hunter hack classes. Clinic riders are members of the Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Youth Association and Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association.
"The Winning Ways Clinic has maintained a tradition for more than 20 years of providing detailed and practical information for horse owners and riders of all levels," says Comerford. "Andy Moorman continues that tradition and will be returning for the third time due to favorable responses from her previous clinics."
The fee for the clinic is $20 per day or $30 for both days if preregistering before March 1. Late registrations and walk-ins will be accepted after March 1 for an additional $5 per clinic day. Registration forms are available at http://www.pqha.org or http://www.das.psu.edu
