PENN STATE GARDEN FORUM OFFERS A UNIQUE GARDENING EXPERIENCE

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Gardeners who have a passion for plants, creating inviting gardening spaces and thirst for gardening knowledge should attend the second annual Garden Forum conducted by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences on May 22.

The all-day, consumer-oriented conference will feature how-to sessions on garden site selection and analysis, planting summer bulbs, creating the tropical paradise garden, using bulbs as companion plants, selecting plants for a shade garden, design integration of house and landscape, lawn care, and more.

"Our goal is to provide a memorable experience for gardeners by offering a venue where they can spend the day with specialists from the university community as well as national renowned speakers learning about their favorite leisure activity which is gardening," says Kathy Kelley, consumer horticulture information specialist for Penn State Cooperative Extension. "This year's topics were chosen based on comments and suggestions from last year's participants. We take into consideration what attendees would like to learn and invite those speakers who are considered experts in their discipline."

The fee for the Garden Forum is $85 and includes morning refreshments, lunch, afternoon break and instructional materials. The deadline for registration is May 10. To get a registration form, call 814-865-2227, print a copy from the Web at http://hortweb.cas.psu.edu or send an e-mail to hortpsu@psu.edu.
