Ramos presented her research results at the Gamma Sigma Delta Research Expo, held this past spring, and won third place for her presentation. “That was exciting, and just another confirmation that my research was worthwhile,” she says. “I’m president of the Biology Club, and we had two graduate students come in and talk to us about doing research. They encouraged everyone to try it. It’s great for your resume—it shows you have time for classes and a social life and research, that you’re well balanced.”

Ramos, who has a double minor in psychology and Spanish, plans to take a “victory lap” before graduating: Because she plans to attend medical school and become a pediatric physician, in the fall she’ll take classes in adolescent and child development. During spring semester she plans to study in Spain.
