Food Safety for Hunters and Anglers

If you’re among the millions of people who enjoy hunting and fishing, three new publications from the college can help you make sure that you don’t bring home more than you bargained for with the catch of the day. Written by food scientist Catherine Cutter, the brochures offer guidelines and helpful hints to reduce the risk of foodborne illness and ensure that the food you’re providing is safe.

The three publications are:

Proper Care and Handling of Fish from Stream to Table

Proper Care and Handling of Game Birds from Field to Table

Proper Care and Handling of Venison from Field to Table

They are available free from the Penn State Cooperative Extension office in your county or from the College of Agricultural Sciences Publications Distribution Center, 112 Ag Administration Building, University Park, PA 16802. Internet users can find the brochures on the Web at http://pubs.cas.psu.edu.
