Emeritus Professor, Larry Muller, Honored By Adsa
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Larry Muller, Professor Emeritus Of Dairy Science In Penn State's College Of Agricultural Sciences, Recently Received The 2005 Award Of Honor From The American Dairy Science Association At The Organization's National Annual Meeting In Cincinnati, Ohio.
The highest honor bestowed by the ADSA, the Award of Honor annually rewards a person who has been a member of the society for at least 25 years and who has made distinguished contributions to the association.
"It meant a great deal to me to receive this award because the American Dairy Science Association has played a significant role in my life and career, and it is very important to the dairy industry in both this country and internationally," Muller says. "I am honored to be recognized for the leadership role I have played in the ADSA over the years."
Terry Etherton, distinguished professor of dairy and animal science and head of the department, was pleased to see Muller acknowledged by the American Dairy Science Association. "Dr. Muller has had a long and impressive career, and has made countless important contributions to the dairy industry in Pennsylvania and the world," he says. "I am delighted that Larry received this distinguished recognition."
Muller was selected as the Outstanding Advisor by the ADSA student affiliate division in 1983. He received the Ralston Purina Teaching Award in 1985, the Dairy Management Research Award in 1988 and the Pioneer Forage Award in 1998, all from ADSA. He served as the national president of ADSA in 1998-1999 and served on the executive committee for three years. The ADSA has more than 4,000 members worldwide and is the professional scientific society of the dairy industry.
