College Of Ag Sciences Alumni Tailgate Features Live Auction
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Items and packages with an estimated retail value of more than $8,000 will cross the auction block at the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society's Ag Live '06 tailgate event on Nov. 18, prior to the Penn State vs. Michigan State football game.
The tailgate will take place at the Snider Agricultural Arena, at the corner of Park Avenue and Fox Hollow Road on Penn State's University Park campus.
Ag Live '06 attendees will be able to welcome Michigan State University agriculture alumni and friends, as well as help to raise funds to benefit the Penn State Ag Alumni Society's student scholarships and internship awards and other programs for students and alumni.
The live auction will include a 2007 Penn State football weekend extravaganza, which will include two nights of lodging at the Nittany Lion Inn (Nov. 2-3, 2007), dinner Friday evening, brunch Sunday morning and two tickets to the Penn State vs. Purdue football game in the Penn State Alumni Association's sky box.
Other items include a Penn State football signed by legendary head coach Joe Paterno; weekend use of cottages on Keuka Lake in the New York Finger Lakes region and on Spruce Creek in Huntingdon County; week-long use of condominiums in Williamsburg, Va., and Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a Monet's Garden quilt; half sides of custom-cut and wrapped Angus beef; a guided fly-fishing experience on Spruce Creek and a shadow box of hand-tied flies from famous Penn State fly-fishermen.
Persons interested in bidding on these and other items but unable to attend the live auction will be able to make absentee bids, which must be postmarked or faxed by Nov. 10. Forms for absentee bids as well as a complete listing of auction items can be found on the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Relations Web site at http://www.agalumni.cas.psu.edu/AgLive.html.
In addition to the live auction, 20 items with a total estimated value of more than $1,200 will be raffled during Ag Live '06. Among the raffle items will be a Dairymen's Club milk bottle collection, a box of Penn State cheeses, a Beaver Stadium throw, chocolate, meat products, a Mount Nittany Winery tour and wine tasting, and an Ag Arena parking pass for the 2007 football season. Raffle tickets will be sold at the tailgate for $1 each or six for $5.
The Penn State Blue Band and Penn State cheerleaders, along with Michigan State cheerleaders and mascot, Sparty, will provide live entertainment. A tailgate meal, including Penn State Creamery ice cream, will be provided, and game-viewing will be available on a large-screen television inside the Ag Arena.
Admission to the tailgate is $20 for adults and $15 for students and children 6 and under. Advance registration is required by Nov. 10.
