Mushrooms The Focus Of Penn State Conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The 48th Annual Mushroom Industry Conference, sponsored by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, will be held June 11-13 at The Nittany Lion Inn in State College.

The conference will present the latest information on mushroom production, research, technology and marketing. Speakers and panelists from industry and academia will address scientific and technical topics, as well as practical aspects of mushroom cultivation.

The conference will begin on Sunday, June 11, with an evening reception at The Nittany Lion Inn. Three research sessions on Monday will cover such topics as antioxidants in mushrooms, mushroom substrates, aseptic processing, and nutritional and medicinal aspects of mushrooms.

Industry sessions on Tuesday will focus on energy efficiency, food safety, disease control, worker protection standards and odor issues affecting the agricultural industry.

The registration fee is $300 until June 1 and $335 thereafter, which covers tuition, conference materials, beverage breaks, a welcome reception and a banquet.
