College Of Ag Sciences Alumni Tailgate Features Live Auction
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society will feature a live auction of items and packages valued at more than $8,000 at its Ag Live '07 tailgate event at the Snider Ag Arena on Nov. 3, prior to the Penn State vs. Purdue football game.
Ag Live '07 alumni tailgate proceeds benefit the Penn State Ag Alumni Society's student scholarships and internship awards and other programs for students and alumni.
The live auction will include a 2008 Penn State football weekend extravaganza, which will include two nights of lodging at the Nittany Lion Inn, Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008; dinner Friday evening; brunch Sunday morning; and two tickets to the Penn State vs. Michigan State football game in the Penn State Alumni Association's sky box.
Other items include a Penn State football signed by legendary head coach Joe Paterno; bed-and-breakfast packages in Lancaster, Pa., and Bellefonte, Pa.; week-long use of condominiums in Ocean City, Md., and Hilton Head Island, S.C.; half sides of custom cut and wrapped Natural Acres beef; 2008 season football parking passes for the Ag Arena; and autographed memorabilia from several Penn State intercollegiate athletic teams.
Persons interested in bidding on these and other items but unable to attend the live auction can make absentee bids, which must be postmarked by Oct. 26. Forms for absentee bids as well as a complete listing of auction items can be found on the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Relations Web site at www.agalumni.cas.psu.edu.
In addition to the live auction, 30 items with a total estimated value of more than $1,200 will be raffled during Ag Live '07. Raffle items will include a Dairymen's Club milk bottle collection, a box of Penn State cheeses, chocolate, meat products, a Mount Nittany Winery tour and wine tasting, and a Penn State throw blanket. Raffle tickets will be sold at the tailgate for $1 each or six for $5.
The Penn State Blue Band and Penn State cheerleaders will perform and greet the crowd. A tailgate meal including Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream will be provided, and the game can be viewed on a large screen inside the Ag Arena.
